About us…

Block Island Babysitters is a childcare referral service on Block Island, Rhode Island. We pair families with qualified babysitters, nannies, mothers helpers and newborn care specialists. All of our childcare providers have a vast amount of experience and are highly qualified. Each sitter has completed an interview and their personal and childcare references have been thoroughly checked. Each sitter at the minimum is CPR and First Aid Certified. Many of our sitters are local year-round residents or summer residents who have been visiting the island for years. Each sitter has transportation to and from the job. Our sitters are nature-oriented people. Many enjoy swimming, hiking, biking, geocaching, orb-hunting, beach combing and yoga.

How Block Island Babysitters began...

Several summers ago, I was babysitting for different families nearly every day and night. Many of them told me what a struggle it was to find reliable and available childcare on Block Island. They often searched online seeking a babysitter, only to find that there were no services to contact. I began to receive numerous calls a day, not only from families I had babysat in the past, but also new families who contacted me through referrals. It then occurred to me that I could create a service to pair families with reliable and experienced babysitters on Block Island. I would then be able to pursue my dream of having my own business, while also working with children.

I grew up on Block Island and continue to live there as a year-round resident. Over the years, I became well known for my experience as a babysitter and nanny. I completed my coursework through Gentle Venture's Training, to become a Newborn Care Specialist. I am certified in CPR, First Aid, Babysitting and Advanced Childcare through the American Red Cross. I am also certified in Childhood Nutrition through Stanford University. I have years of experience with childcare in many different settings. Most importantly, I love and care for children and as if they were my own. I started Block Island Babysitters, LLC to provide safe, quality and dependable childcare for island families and visitors.
